Sourav Ganguly Returns as CAB President
Sourav Ganguly has been elected unopposed as the new President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). He filed his nomination on 14 September 2025 and formally took charge after no other candidate contested. He succeeds his brother, Snehasish Ganguly, who has held the post since 2019.
Previous Tenure and BCCI Role

Link to Upcoming BCCI Elections
With BCCI elections due on 28 September 2025, Ganguly’s new role also makes him a contender. The CAB has nominated him as its representative, allowing him the option to contest for the BCCI President post once again.
Ganguly’s Agenda for Bengal Cricket
In his statement after election, Ganguly thanked members for their trust and highlighted upcoming challenges and opportunities. He pointed to Bengal hosting a Test match against South Africa, the T20 World Cup, and the Bengal Pro T20 League. He promised to work closely with the team to boost cricket in the state.
