Sonia Gandhi Criticises India’s Palestine Stance

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has strongly criticised the Modi government’s handling of the Israel–Palestine conflict. She accused New Delhi of exhibiting a “profound silence” and described its response as an abdication of humanity and morality.

Allegations Of Biased Diplomacy

Gandhi claimed that India’s muted stance is being shaped more by Prime Minister Modi’s personal friendship with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu than by constitutional principles or strategic interests. She urged India to return to a more principled foreign policy, not one driven by individual relationships.

Loss Of India’s Moral Voice

According to Gandhi, India once had a clear moral voice in global affairs, particularly in supporting decolonisation and justice movements. She lamented that its current neutrality amounts to complicity, especially in the face of civilian casualties and alleged obstruction of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Calls For Leadership And Action

Gandhi urged India to reclaim leadership by advocating for human rights, justice, and international law, rather than staying silent. She stressed that silence is not neutrality, but a surrender of India’s ethical obligations in world affairs.
