Shubman Gill to Begin Rehabilitation From December 1
India batter Shubman Gill will start his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from December 1 after recovering from a neck strain suffered during the first Test against South Africa. The injury forced him to miss the rest of the series and the subsequent ODIs.
Light Batting Expected to Resume Soon
According to team monitoring staff, Gill has completed his initial treatment phase and is expected to begin light batting sessions later this week. His workload will increase gradually depending on medical assessments and how he responds to training at the facility.
Return Timeline Still Uncertain
While Gill’s recovery has progressed well, the selectors are yet to decide whether he will be available for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Officials have made it clear that no decision will be taken until he clears all required fitness tests. The BCCI has also emphasised that his return will not be rushed to avoid any risk of aggravation.
Team Awaits Final Fitness Report
Gill’s progress over the next few days will determine if he can rejoin the squad. Coaches and trainers at the Centre of Excellence will continue to monitor him through regular evaluations.
