Shubman Gill Reaches Bhubaneswar For T20I Comeback
Shubman Gill arrived in Bhubaneswar on Sunday night ahead of India’s T20I series against South Africa. The opening batsman is expected to make his return to the national side after recovering from a neck injury.
Gill was not part of the ODI squad and travelled later than most of the team, who reached earlier in the day.
Fit Again After Rehabilitation
The cricketer completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI facility in Bengaluru, where he underwent batting, fitness and fielding drills. Team management confirmed that he has been cleared for full participation.
Gill had missed two Tests and three ODIs during the recent South Africa tour after suffering the injury in the first Test.
Important Boost For India’s Batting
India begin the five-match T20I series on December 9 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Gill’s return is seen as a significant boost for the top order, which lacked stability during the absence of key players.
Coaches and teammates said Gill looked confident and “hungry to go” as he joined the squad.
Team Prepares For Series
Other players have already started training, while final combinations and practice sessions will take place in the coming days. The series will be watched closely as India prepares for a busy calendar of international cricket.
Fans in Odisha greeted Gill at the airport, and large crowds are expected for the matches.
