Shubman Gill Nears Top Spot in ICC ODI Rankings
Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma remain inside the top four of the latest ICC men’s ODI batting rankings following India’s three-match series against England.
Shubman Gill Nears ODI Top Ranking
Gill retained second position after scoring 188 runs during the series, which England won 2-1. The Indian captain increased his rating to 801 points and now trails top-ranked New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell by only one point.
Mitchell remains first with 802 rating points despite not playing in the India-England series. Gill’s latest rise places him within touching distance of regaining the world number-one ODI batting position.
The Indian batter scored 80 in the opening match before adding 77 during the series decider at Lord’s.
Kohli and Rohit Remain Top Four
Virat Kohli retained third position with 767 points following scores of 65 and 74 in the final two matches. Rohit Sharma remains fourth but reduced the gap to Kohli after his century in the third ODI.
Rohit struck 138 from 110 deliveries at Lord’s, hitting 17 fours and five sixes during India’s pursuit of 388. His performance lifted his rating to 758 points, leaving him nine behind Kohli.
England’s Joe Root climbed four positions to eighth after recording unbeaten scores of 76, 99 and 74 across the series. It marked his return to the ODI batting top 10 for the first time since 2020.
No Indian Bowler Inside Top Ten
India have no representative among the top 10 ODI bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav remains the country’s highest-ranked bowler but has dropped to 11th position with 596 rating points.
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan leads the bowling rankings with 682 points, followed by Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed. England fast bowler Jofra Archer moved up to third after his performances against India.
New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner and South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj share fourth position in the latest bowling table.
