Shinde-Led Sena Releases First List of 45 Candidates for Maharashtra Polls
The Eknath Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena on Tuesday released its first list of 45 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.
The announcement follows the finalization of the seat-sharing pact between the Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Eknath Shinde to Contest from Kopri-Pachpakhadi
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will contest from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi constituency, as per the party’s notification. Other prominent names on the list include Sadanand Shankar Sarvankar, who will be running from the Mahim seat in Mumbai, where he will face off against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s son, Amit Thackeray.
The party has also fielded Manisha Ravindra Waikar from Jogeshwari (East), Dilip Bhausaheb Lande from Chandivali, Mangesh Anant Kudalkar from Kurla, and Yamini Yashwant Jadhav from the Byculla constituency.
Mahayuti Alliance Seat-Sharing Deal Finalized
The release of Shinde Sena’s candidate list comes two days after the BJP unveiled its first list of 99 candidates, with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis contesting from Nagpur South West. The Mahayuti alliance’s seat-sharing pact will see the BJP contesting 152-155 seats, Shinde’s faction receiving 78-80 seats, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP expected to contest 52-54 seats.
Among the notable candidates from the BJP list are Ram Kadam from Ghatkopar West, Shweta Mahale Patil from Chikli, and Nitish Rane from Kankavli.
Maharashtra Assembly Polls Set for November 20
Maharashtra’s assembly elections will take place on November 20, with all 288 constituencies voting in a single phase. The results are scheduled to be announced on November 23, determining the state’s political landscape for the next term.
