Scindia Envisions India as a $6 Trillion Economy by 2030 at Rising Bharat Summit​

At the CNN-News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025 held at New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, expressed strong optimism about India’s economic trajectory. He stated, “Our country today is on a roll, no power can stop us.”

Economic Growth Projections

Scindia outlined ambitious targets for India’s economic growth:

  • Current Status: India’s economy stands at $4 trillion.

  • 2028 Projection: Anticipated to reach $5 trillion.

  • 2030 Projection: Expected to hit $6 trillion, positioning India as the third-largest economy globally.

Role of Youth and Northeastern States

Emphasizing India’s demographic advantage, Scindia noted that nearly 70% of the population is under the age of 35, fueling transformation and innovation. He highlighted the significant contributions of northeastern states, referring to them as the “engine of the train that drives India,” with each state experiencing a 12% growth rate.

Strategic Initiatives and Global Connectivity

Scindia also discussed strategic initiatives enhancing global connectivity:

  • Northeast Connectivity: The region shares a 6,000 km international border, offering unparalleled connectivity with both the Global North and South.

  • Trade Initiatives: Programs like Krishi Udaan have enabled exports such as Tripura’s pineapples to Germany and Nagaland’s chilies to Dubai, showcasing the region’s growing economic significance.

Vision for India’s Global Standing

Scindia credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with reshaping India’s global narrative, emphasizing the nation’s competitive advantages and fostering a positive international image. He expressed confidence that India would continue to ascend in global rankings, driven by its youthful population and strategic regional developments.
