He was later brought back to Chennai and is expected to be produced before a magistrate in connection with pending criminal cases.
Savukku Shankar Arrested In Andhra Pradesh
Police tracked Shankar to a lodge or hotel in Andhra Pradesh and took him into custody on Wednesday. Reports said three others were also detained along with him during the operation. The arrest followed a search launched after he did not appear before authorities once the relief granted by the court came to an end.
Interim Bail Expiry Led To Police Action
Shankar had been granted 12 weeks of interim bail on medical grounds by the Madras High Court in December 2025. That bail expired on March 25, 2026. According to the police case, he failed to surrender before the prison authorities as required, leading to further legal action. The State had earlier moved the court claiming he had violated conditions attached to the interim bail and sought cancellation of that relief.
Chennai Cases And Court Production
The arrest is linked to earlier extortion-related cases registered by the Saidapet and Adambakkam police in Chennai. Investigators have said charge sheets were already filed in those cases. After being traced in Andhra Pradesh, Shankar was brought to Chennai for remand proceedings. The latest development adds to the legal pressure on the YouTuber, who had remained active on social media even as police were searching for him.
