Saudi Warns Iran After Shaybah Threat

Saudi Arabia sharpened its warning to Iran early Monday after a fresh drone threat near the Shaybah oil field, saying Tehran would be the “biggest loser” if it continued attacking Arab states. The statement signalled growing Gulf concern that the Iran-US-Israel conflict is expanding beyond its main fronts and placing key regional energy infrastructure under direct threat.

Saudi Arabia Warning To Iran

In a formal statement, Saudi Arabia rejected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s claim that attacks on Gulf Arab states had stopped. Riyadh said the statement had not been reflected on the ground and accused Iran of continuing what it described as aggression under weak and unfounded justifications. The Saudi foreign ministry also warned that any further escalation would seriously damage relations in the present and in the future.

Shaybah Oil Field Drone Attack

The warning came after Saudi authorities reported intercepting drones headed toward the massive Shaybah oil field in the kingdom’s east, near the UAE border. Shaybah is one of Saudi Arabia’s major oil-producing assets and has become an increasingly sensitive symbol of the wider risk to Gulf energy supplies. Earlier reports over recent days had already indicated repeated attempts to target the area, showing that the threat has remained active despite diplomatic messaging from Tehran.

Gulf Security Tensions Rise

The latest Saudi position reflects a broader shift in Gulf security concerns as the conflict spreads across the region. The UAE and Bahrain have also raised alerts in recent days, while global oil markets have reacted sharply to fears of disruption to production and transport routes. Riyadh’s message suggests that patience is wearing thin among Gulf states that had tried to avoid being pulled directly into the confrontation but now face repeated security threats to critical national infrastructure.
