Saudi Arabia Honours Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir
Saudi Arabia has conferred the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence on Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, during his official visit to the Kingdom, underscoring close defence and security ties between the two countries.
Medal Conferred During Riyadh Visit
The award was presented in Riyadh by Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman following approval from the Saudi leadership. The King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence is granted to individuals for outstanding services and contributions that strengthen bilateral relations. Saudi officials said the honour recognises General Munir’s role in enhancing military cooperation and long-standing strategic engagement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Focus on Defence and Security Cooperation
During the visit, General Munir held meetings with senior Saudi defence and security officials. Discussions focused on regional security, defence collaboration, training exchanges, and broader military cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working closely on issues affecting stability in the region, including counter-terrorism and defence preparedness.
