Sai Sudharsan Breaks Chris Gayle IPL Record

Sai Sudharsan produced a major IPL milestone during Gujarat Titans’ match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, reaching 2,000 IPL runs faster than any player in tournament history.

Sai Sudharsan Reaches 2,000 IPL Runs

The Gujarat Titans opener reached the 2,000-run mark in his 47th IPL innings, breaking the previous record held by Chris Gayle, who had achieved the milestone in 48 innings. Sudharsan reached the landmark during a fluent century against RCB, scoring 100 off 58 balls.

His knock came after a difficult start to the season, where he had managed only one half-century in his first six matches. The innings helped him return to form in emphatic fashion and added another major record to his growing IPL career.

Fastest Players To 2,000 IPL Runs

Sudharsan now leads the list of fastest players to 2,000 IPL runs by innings. Chris Gayle is second with 48 innings, followed by Shaun Marsh, who reached the mark in 52 innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad achieved it in 57 innings, while KL Rahul completed the milestone in 60 innings.

In terms of balls faced, Sudharsan also became the sixth-fastest Indian batter to reach 2,000 IPL runs, taking 1,361 balls to get there.

Gujarat Titans Face RCB In Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to field first in the IPL 2026 match. RCB made one change, bringing in Jacob Bethell for the injured Phil Salt.

Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, entered the match after a heavy defeat against Mumbai Indians. GT made two changes, with Jason Holder making his debut for the side and Manav Suthar returning to the playing XI.
