S-400 System to Feature at Republic Day Parade 2026
India will display its S-400 air defence system at the Republic Day parade in 2026, marking the first public showcase of the platform during the national celebrations. The system will be part of a special military tableau highlighting Operation Sindoor, a recent Indian military operation that underscored joint coordination among the armed forces.
Significance of the S-400 Showcase
The S-400 is a long-range surface-to-air missile system inducted into the Indian Air Force as part of India’s layered air defence network. Officials have confirmed that the system was operationally deployed during Operation Sindoor, enhancing India’s air defence preparedness during the mission. The Republic Day display is aimed at highlighting India’s growing indigenous and imported defence capabilities, as well as integrated operations across services.
The tableau is being curated by the Department of Military Affairs and will reflect India’s emphasis on modernisation, jointness, and readiness to counter aerial threats. The Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path will also feature marching contingents, other defence platforms, and cultural tableaux representing states and ministries.
Republic Day is observed annually on January 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950.
