Russia conducts long-range missile strikes on Ukraine
Russia launched long-range strikes against Ukrainian military targets on Thursday, deploying hypersonic air-launched Kinzhal missiles among other delivery systems, according to Russia’s Defence Ministry.
Strikes and targets hit
The strikes reportedly hit 13 locations, including weapons manufacturing facilities and airfields. Debris from the attack caused additional damage in some surrounding areas. A missile also struck the offices of Ukrspecsystems—a Kyiv-based drone and UAV manufacturer—located centrally in the capital.
International response
In response, international leaders condemned the attack. The United Kingdom and the European Union summoned Russia’s ambassador, denouncing the strike as a deliberate escalation and obstruction of peace efforts. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reaffirmed calls for stronger sanctions and greater defensive support.
U.S. reaction
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that U.S. President Donald Trump was “not happy” with the development but “not surprised,” reflecting the enduring hostilities between Moscow and Kyiv. Peace efforts remain stalled amid mounting international pressure.
