Robinson Says He Killed Kirk Over ‘Spreading Hate’
Authorities have revealed the suspected motive behind the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The accused, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, told his family that he disliked Kirk because he believed Kirk “spread hate.”
Shooting at Utah Valley University
The incident took place on 10 September at Utah Valley University, where Kirk was speaking at a public event. Robinson allegedly fired a single shot from a rooftop, striking Kirk in the neck before fleeing the scene.
Identification and Arrest
Robinson was identified through surveillance footage and digital records. After the FBI released photos, his father recognised him and persuaded him to surrender to law enforcement.
Rifle and Engraved Bullets
Investigators recovered a Mauser rifle wrapped in a towel, along with bullet casings engraved with slogans and pop-culture references. Some of the markings included anti-fascist phrases and video game memes.
Ongoing Investigation
While Robinson’s statements about Kirk “spreading hate” provide some insight into his motive, authorities have not confirmed a broader ideological link. The FBI continues to investigate all aspects of the case.
