Robert Vadra Appears Before ED in Haryana Land Deal Probe

Businessman Robert Vadra appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on April 15, 2025, in connection with a money laundering investigation related to a 2008 land deal in Shikohpur, Haryana. This was the second summons issued to Vadra in the case after he failed to appear for questioning on April 8.

The investigation pertains to a transaction involving Vadra’s firm, Skylight Hospitality, which purchased approximately 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur for ₹7.5 crore. Later that year, the Haryana town planning department issued a letter of intent allowing commercial development on 2.71 acres of the land. The entire property was subsequently sold to real estate giant DLF for ₹58 crore, raising questions about windfall gains and alleged irregularities in land use approvals.

Vadra, who has previously faced multiple rounds of questioning in related money laundering probes, called the summons part of a political vendetta. Speaking to reporters outside the ED office in New Delhi, he said, “Whenever I speak up for the people, they try to suppress me. I have nothing to hide.” He also expressed his hope that the matter would be brought to a close soon, pointing out that he has been summoned repeatedly over the last two decades and has always cooperated with authorities.

The ED is recording Vadra’s statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), as investigators examine whether proceeds from the land deal involved illicit financial activities. The case continues to add legal pressure on Vadra, who has long denied any wrongdoing and maintains the transactions were lawful and transparent.
