Revanth Reddy Questions Rafale Losses; BJP Hits Back

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy triggered a political firestorm by questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi on how many Rafale fighter jets India lost during Operation Sindoor. Speaking at the ‘Jai Hind’ rally in Hyderabad, Reddy raised concerns about transparency surrounding the operation and demanded an official disclosure of losses.

Reddy also criticized the unilateral ceasefire declared after the operation, questioning why the Centre did not consult opposition parties before making such a critical national security decision. His remarks appeared to reflect growing opposition unease with the Modi government’s handling of the post-attack strategy following the Pahalgam terror strike.

BJP Accuses Reddy of Undermining Armed Forces

The BJP responded sharply to Reddy’s comments, accusing the Congress leader of playing into Pakistan’s hands and demoralizing the Indian armed forces. Labeling him part of the so-called “Saboot Gang”—a reference to leaders who demand proof of military operations—the BJP said such questions send a damaging message at a time when national unity is required.

The Telangana unit of the BJP further escalated its attack on Reddy, alleging that he had used the phrase “Mana Pakistan” (Our Pakistan) during his speech, and ridiculed him for engaging in what it called “Miss World photo ops,” a jibe referencing Reddy’s recent high-profile public appearances.

“Stick to photo ops, leave national security to those who understand it,” read a pointed post from the party’s official handle.

Political Temperature Rises Over Operation Sindoor

Reddy’s remarks and the BJP’s retaliatory stance have reignited the debate around political involvement in military matters. The controversy over Operation Sindoor—India’s retaliatory missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan—continues to dominate political discourse, with opposition leaders demanding more transparency and accountability, while the ruling party frames such demands as unpatriotic.

The political divide is now further deepened by public sparring between senior leaders on issues of defense, operational secrecy, and public accountability. As election rhetoric intensifies, the use of military operations in political narratives remains a sensitive flashpoint for all parties involved.
