Ranchi Students Seek CBI Probe Into Exams
Hundreds of job aspirants continued their protest in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the JPSC and JSSC, demanding cancellations, recruitment reforms and a CBI investigation.
Ranchi Students Demand JPSC Exam Cancellation
The protesters are seeking cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination held on April 19. They have questioned the publication of its results and the commission’s failure to release category-wise cut-off marks promptly.
Candidates have also sought scrutiny of CCTV footage from the commission’s premises on the night the results were announced. The allegations remain under investigation and have not been conclusively established.
The JPSC postponed the civil services main examination, which had been scheduled from July 25 to 27, following searches and arrests connected with alleged examination irregularities. Its 2026 examination calendar, covering several recruitment tests, was also suspended.
CBI Probe Sought Into JPSC JSSC Exams
Aspirants have demanded a CBI investigation into recruitment examinations conducted by both the JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission. They have expressed doubts about the independence of the continuing state CID inquiry.
The CID has constituted a special investigation team and arrested eight people, including a former JPSC deputy examination controller and employees of a private data-processing agency associated with the examinations.
Protesters have questioned how the agency received examination-related responsibilities despite reportedly facing previous regulatory action.
Jharkhand Exam Protests Gain Political Support
The BJP and its youth wing have supported the CBI inquiry demand, while Ranchi MP and Union Minister Sanjay Seth has called for an independent investigation to restore trust in the recruitment system.
The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress have accused the opposition of politicising the controversy. The state government maintains that investigations have been ordered and those responsible for wrongdoing will face action.
Students have said the Ranchi demonstration will continue until authorities guarantee transparent examinations and implement stronger safeguards against paper leaks and recruitment malpractice.
