Rajasthan Royals Deny Fixing Allegations, Seek Action Against RCA Convenor
The Rajasthan Royals have strongly denied allegations of match-fixing raised by Jaideep Bihani, convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) ad-hoc committee. The franchise, in a formal letter to Rajasthan Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and the Rajasthan Sports Council, labeled the accusations as “completely false and baseless,” and called for immediate action to protect its reputation.
Match-Fixing Allegation Sparks Controversy
The controversy erupted after RR’s recent losses to Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, which Bihani described as “suspicious.” He further alleged that the franchise, in collusion with the Rajasthan Sports Council and the BCCI, deliberately kept the RCA ad-hoc committee out of IPL operations in Jaipur. These claims have created a storm in cricketing and political circles across the state.
Rajasthan Royals Respond with Firm Denial
Rajasthan Royals, in their official statement, emphasized their 18-year track record of working within the framework laid down by the BCCI and the Rajasthan government. The franchise expressed deep concern over the damage such unsubstantiated allegations could do to its credibility, and urged authorities to act against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
Hosting Rights and Role of Sports Council
The Royals clarified that, according to BCCI guidelines, the Rajasthan Sports Council is the authorized body for hosting IPL matches in Jaipur. As such, RR has been coordinating solely with the Council and the BCCI for all organizational matters. The franchise reiterated that it follows every protocol and regulation issued by the governing bodies of Indian cricket.
Royals Focused on Upcoming Fixtures
Despite the controversy, the Royals remain focused on their IPL campaign. They are set to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 24, followed by a home game against Gujarat Titans on April 28. The franchise reaffirmed its commitment to fair play, transparency, and its zero-tolerance stance against any form of corruption in cricket.
