Raj Thackeray Reflects on BMC Polls Loss

Maharashtra leader Raj Thackeray said his party will “analyse what went wrong” after a disappointing performance in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. He acknowledged that the contest was not easy and that the results fell short of his party’s expectations.

Post-Poll Comments

Raj Thackeray, founder of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), said the party will review its campaign strategy and voter outreach. He described the BMC elections as highly competitive, with strong performances from major parties including the Shiv Sena (UBT), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress.

Election Context

The BMC polls saw established political parties securing the majority of seats, leaving smaller parties with limited representation. MNS had contested vigorously, but its seat tally remained low compared with larger, better-resourced parties.

Next Steps

Raj Thackeray said the party will study feedback from voters and work on strengthening its organisational base ahead of future elections. He emphasised that lessons from the outcome will inform the party’s strategy going forward.
