Railways Offers 20% Discount on Return Tickets for Festival Travel

The Ministry of Railways has launched a new Round Trip Package for Festival Rush to make travel easier during the busy Diwali and Chhath season. Under this scheme, travelers booking both their onward and return journeys together receive a 20% rebate on the return trip’s base fare.

When and How to Book

The bookings will open on August 14, 2025. Passengers can plan their onward journey between October 13 and October 26, and the return trip must fall between November 17 and December 1, 2025. The return ticket must be booked using the “connecting journey” option, but the usual advance reservation period rules will not apply to that booking.

Both tickets must be:

  • Confirmed in the same travel class,
  • For the same route,
  • In the same passenger name,
  • Booked via the same method—either online or at the counter.

Important Conditions

This experimental scheme aims to reduce rush at stations, smooth out bookings, and make better use of trains moving in both directions. It applies to all classes and trains, including special services, except flexi-fare trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto.

Passengers should note:

  • No refunds or modifications are allowed once booked.
  • No other discounts, vouchers, passes, or coupons can be used.
  • Fare rules that usually apply will be relaxed only for the return journey under this offer.

Railways departments nationwide have been instructed to widely announce this offer so that travelers planning festive trips can benefit.
