Rahul Gandhi Unhappy with Haryana Congress Leaders After Poll Defeat – Report
New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reportedly expressed his frustration with the party’s Haryana unit, and blaming them for the recent electoral defeat in the state according to reports.
During a brief review meeting held at party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, Gandhi criticized the factionalism and internal discord among the state leaders, attributing these issues as the primary reasons for the loss.
The high-level review meeting, convened by Kharge, included key Congress observers such as Ajay Maken, Ashok Gehlot, Deepak Babaria, and KC Venugopal. The discussion focused on the factors leading to Congress’ poor performance in Haryana, where the party failed to secure enough seats to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Internal Squabbles Blamed for Election Setback
Rahul Gandhi reportedly did not hold back in expressing his disappointment with the Haryana Congress leadership. According to sources present at the meeting, he pointed out that the party could have won if the leaders had put collective efforts ahead of their personal ambitions. He emphasized that a lack of unity and internal bickering had handed the advantage to the BJP, which secured a third consecutive term in the state.
The meeting, which lasted only a short while, highlighted the party’s frustration with the infighting among Haryana Congress leaders. Observers noted that Rahul Gandhi appeared visibly upset with the performance of the state unit and urged immediate corrective measures to prevent such scenarios in future elections.
Rahul Gandhi Calls for Urgent Reforms
During the review, Gandhi insisted that if Congress hopes to regain its footing in Haryana and other states, it must address the ongoing power struggles and infighting. He underscored the importance of collective decision-making and urged leaders to prioritize the party’s interests over individual gains.
Observers at the meeting suggested that the party is considering a revamp of the Haryana unit’s leadership structure, with an emphasis on eliminating factionalism and enhancing grassroots-level engagement.
