In a social media post, Gandhi said stray dogs are “voiceless souls, not problems to be erased.” He urged authorities to adopt compassionate, community-based strategies—emphasizing shelters, sterilization, vaccination, and responsible caregiving as effective measures to maintain public safety without resorting to cruelty.
Support from Animal Rights Advocates
His stance mirrors concerns raised by animal welfare groups, which have described the court’s sweeping removal directive as impractical and inhumane, citing inadequate infrastructure and the risk of harm to the animals. Advocates argue that focusing on established Animal Birth Control measures would yield better long-term results while preserving animal welfare.
