Rahul Gandhi Appears in Bhiwandi Court
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appeared before a court in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi in connection with a defamation case related to remarks about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). During the hearing, he submitted a fresh bail bond and presented a new guarantor as part of the court’s procedural requirements.
Rahul Gandhi RSS Defamation Case Hearing
The case stems from comments made by Gandhi in 2014, in which he allegedly linked the RSS to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. A complaint was subsequently filed, leading to defamation proceedings in a local court.
Gandhi had earlier been granted bail in the matter. At the latest hearing, the court directed the filing of a fresh bail bond, which was complied with. Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal appeared as the new surety on Gandhi’s behalf.
Fresh Bail Bond Filed in Bhiwandi Court
Legal representatives informed the court that Gandhi would continue to cooperate with the judicial process. The submission of the fresh bond ensures continuation of bail granted earlier, pending further proceedings in the case.
The court is expected to take up the matter for subsequent hearings as per schedule. Gandhi did not make any public statement inside the courtroom but briefly interacted with party workers outside.
Political Context of RSS Defamation Case
The defamation case has drawn political attention over the years, given Gandhi’s role as a senior opposition leader and the reference to the RSS. The proceedings remain confined to legal examination of the alleged remarks and related evidence.
