Rahul Becomes Second Indian with Two Tons at Lord’s
In a historic moment at Lord’s, India’s opener KL Rahul has become only the second Indian batsman, after Dilip Vengsarkar, to score multiple Test centuries at the prestigious venue. He achieved this milestone during the third Test against England on Day 3.
Rahul’s Classy Century Anchors Innings
Rahul built on his overnight score to reach exactly 100 runs off 177 balls, featuring 13 boundaries. He brought up his century just after lunch by guiding a single through the covers. Although he was dismissed immediately afterward—edged off Shoaib Bashir to slip—his composed innings steadied India’s run chase. It also marked his third century in England this tour, following another ton at Leeds and two in this match.
Pant-Rahul Stand Stabilises India
Earlier on Day 3, Rahul and Rishabh Pant shared a pivotal 141‑run partnership, helping India recover from 145 for 3. Pant, undeterred by a finger injury, contributed 74 runs, before being brilliantly run out by Ben Stokes just before lunch, ending the stand and bringing Rahul to the crease. Pant’s knock complemented Rahul’s stability perfectly.
Rare Feat at Lord’s
With this milestone, Rahul emulates Vengsarkar, who holds the record for three Test hundreds at Lord’s (1979, 1982, 1986). Rahul joins the elite as only the second Indian to score more than one century at the Lord’s honours board—his previous tons being in 2021 (129) and now 2025. This achievement cements his reputation as a top-order mainstay on challenging English pitches.
Match Update
At tea on Day 3, India stood at 316 for 5, trailing England’s 387 by 71 runs. Ravindra Jadeja (40*) and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy (25*) added stability after Rahul’s dismissal, bringing India closer to England’s first-innings total. The five-match series remains tied 1–1.
