Qatar PM Demands Global Action Against Israel
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has urged the international community to reject “double standards” and hold Israel accountable for its actions. His comments followed the Israeli airstrike in Doha on 9 September 2025, which Qatar said was a violation of its sovereignty.
Strong Condemnation of Airstrike
Sheikh Mohammed condemned the strike as “state terrorism” and said it undermined ongoing mediation efforts involving Qatar, the U.S., and Egypt. He stressed that Doha had no choice but to demand justice and punishment for what he described as crimes committed by Israel.
Qatar’s Position
Qatar confirmed that a Qatari security officer was among those killed in the strike. The Prime Minister called on world leaders to end what he described as hypocrisy in their responses to Israeli actions. He added that Qatar’s role as a mediator in the Gaza conflict would not be abandoned despite the attack.
Regional and Global Reactions
The strike has been met with sharp criticism across the Arab and Islamic world. A draft resolution at the Arab-Islamic summit in Doha condemned the attack and warned that such actions could jeopardize normalization efforts between Israel and Gulf states. Several countries and the United Nations have also called for accountability.
