Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his admiration for Indian cinema and suggested the possibility of future discussions to enhance the distribution of Indian films in Russia.
Highlighting the cultural ties between Russia and India, Putin acknowledged the widespread appeal of Indian movies among Russian audiences.
Indian Films Enjoy Popularity in Russia
Speaking at an event, Putin noted that Indian films are particularly popular among BRICS member states in Russia. He mentioned that a dedicated TV channel broadcasts Indian films 24/7, reflecting the strong demand for Indian cinema in the country. This recognition comes amidst ongoing cultural exchanges, such as the BRICS Film Festival and the inclusion of films from BRICS nations at the Moscow International Film Festival.
Potential for Expanding Indian Film Distribution
Putin signaled his openness to further discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on boosting the presence of Indian films in Russia. He also expressed optimism about strengthening cultural collaborations between the two nations. “If there is interest from the Indian film industry, we will find common ground to support their promotion in Russia,” he said.
