Punjab Man Arrested for Spying for ISI, Linked to Hafiz Saeed

In a major breakthrough under Operation Sindoor, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence Wing has arrested a man from Tarn Taran district for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The suspect is accused of leaking sensitive Indian Army information, and his connections to high-profile Pakistani terror operatives have raised alarm across security agencies.

Leaked Army Movements and ISI Links

The man was found in possession of confidential military documents and had reportedly been tracking and transmitting the movement of Indian Army units near the international border. Authorities confirmed that his phone contained contacts of over 20 suspected ISI agents. The scale and depth of the information shared, according to officials, could have had serious implications for national security.

Initial interrogations revealed that he was in contact with Gopal Singh Chawla, a Pakistan-based Khalistani separatist leader known for close ties to the ISI. These connections point to a broader nexus operating out of Pakistan targeting India’s internal security through sleeper cells and sympathizers.

Connection to Hafiz Saeed

What further deepened concerns was the emergence of a photograph of the accused posing with Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. This visual evidence has underscored the growing convergence between ISI-backed espionage efforts and jihadist-terror outfits aimed at destabilizing India.

Security agencies believe that this case is not isolated but rather part of a broader ISI-backed network attempting to infiltrate India’s military infrastructure through operatives and ideological sympathizers.

National Security Focus Intensifies

The arrest comes amid heightened security operations across the northern border states following Operation Sindoor, India’s multi-agency crackdown on cross-border terrorism. Intelligence agencies are now scanning digital trails and communication logs for further leads. Authorities have assured that those aiding foreign adversaries from within Indian territory will face strict legal consequences.

As investigations continue, this case has become a stark reminder of the complex threats India faces—not only from across the border but from within its own borders.
