Pune Minibus Fire: Driver’s Revenge Claims Four Lives

In a tragic and disturbing incident near Pune, a minibus fire that killed four employees of Vyoma Graphics has been confirmed as an intentional act of revenge by the vehicle’s driver. The incident, initially suspected to be accidental, has now been identified by authorities as a deliberate act of sabotage fueled by personal grievances.

Driver Set Fire to Bus Over Grievances

Investigations revealed that the driver, Janardan Hambardekar, had longstanding conflicts with several staff members and was reportedly upset about a recent pay cut. In a calculated move, he acquired benzene, a highly flammable substance, and soaked cloth in toner solution before setting it alight while the bus was en route near Hinjawadi.

As the fire began to engulf the vehicle, Hambardekar jumped out, leaving the burning bus to continue for nearly 100 meters before stopping. He suffered burns during the act and is currently hospitalized. Authorities have stated that he will be arrested once his medical treatment is complete.

Victims Trapped Inside and Killed

The fire tragically claimed the lives of four passengers who were seated at the rear of the bus and could not escape in time: Shankar Shinde (63), Rajan Chavan (42), Gurudas Lokare (45), and Subhash Bhosale (44). Six others sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals.

Company Offers Support to Victims

Vyoma Graphics, the employer of the victims, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. A company representative stated that the affected individuals were more than just employees and that the firm is committed to supporting their families and ensuring the injured receive proper medical care.

Families in Grief

The deaths have devastated the families of the victims. Subhash Bhosale, for example, is survived by his wife and a teenage child. His relatives have called for justice and urged the company and authorities to assist the family through this difficult time.

Further Action Pending

The incident has shocked the local community and sparked questions about workplace grievances and background checks on staff handling sensitive responsibilities like transportation. The police are continuing their investigation, and the focus remains on ensuring justice for the victims and accountability for the calculated act that led to their deaths.
