Prashant Kishor Says He Was Right On Nitish
Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has said he stands vindicated on his prediction that Nitish Kumar would not remain Chief Minister of Bihar, even while admitting that his earlier forecast about the NDA losing power had proved wrong. His remarks came amid growing political speculation after Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha.
Prashant Kishor Revisits Nitish Kumar Prediction
Speaking on Saturday, Kishor said his broader election prediction may not have worked out, but maintained that he was right about Nitish Kumar’s political future. He argued that Nitish stepping down as Chief Minister so soon after the NDA’s strong Assembly win supported his earlier claim that Kumar would not continue in the post.
Nitish Kumar Exit Fuels Bihar Political Debate
Kishor also questioned the circumstances around Nitish Kumar’s departure, saying it was unclear whether the move was voluntary or driven by political pressure. His comments come as speculation grows that Bihar may soon see a BJP Chief Minister, marking a major shift in the state’s power structure if it happens.

Alongside his remarks on Nitish Kumar, Kishor also alleged that the NDA’s election victory had been helped by cash transfers to voters before the polls. He claimed the ruling alliance benefited from factors beyond electoral popularity, while also admitting that his own Jan Suraaj Party had performed poorly in the Assembly election.
Kishor said his focus remains on building a political alternative in Bihar despite his party’s defeat. He added that he would continue working in the state rather than looking at politics elsewhere, signalling that Bihar remains central to his long-term political project.
