PMBJP Achieves Rs. 1000 Crore Sales Milestone in October 2024
The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) reached a significant milestone by achieving sales worth Rs. 1000 crores in October 2024.
This accomplishment, achieved earlier than the previous year’s target, which was met in December 2023, highlights the growing trust in affordable, high-quality medicines offered through the scheme.
The remarkable growth is attributed to the support of citizens who are increasingly relying on Jan Aushadhi Kendras, with over 14,000 operational across the country.
The initiative, which has grown substantially over the last decade, aims to reduce out-of-pocket expenditure on medicines, providing accessible healthcare solutions to millions of Indians. The impressive sales figure for October follows closely after PMBJP achieved Rs. 200 crores in sales for the month of September 2024 alone.
Since its inception, the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras has expanded dramatically from just 80 in 2014 to over 14,000 in 2024, covering almost every district in India. With plans to expand to 25,000 Kendras within the next two years, the initiative continues to widen its reach.
The PMBJP product catalog includes 2,047 medicines and 300 surgical devices covering essential therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-infective, and gastrointestinal treatments. Nearly one million people visit these centers daily, underscoring their vital role in promoting health equity.
The program’s record-breaking sales reaffirm its success in making healthcare affordable and accessible for all citizens, ensuring a healthier India.
