PM Urges Citizens To Prioritise Duties For Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a letter to citizens on Constitution Day, urged people to place their constitutional duties at the centre of national progress. He said fulfilling duties is essential for achieving the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and strengthening India’s democratic foundations.

Constitution’s Legacy Of Empowerment

Modi recalled that the Constitution adopted in 1949 has empowered generations of Indians, including individuals from humble backgrounds, to rise to positions of responsibility. He referenced symbolic gestures from his past, such as bowing at the steps of Parliament in 2014 and placing the Constitution on his forehead in 2019, to express his reverence for the document.

Tributes To Founders And National Icons

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the architects of the Constitution including B. R. Ambedkar, Rajendra Prasad, and women members of the Constituent Assembly. He noted that this year’s Constitution Day coincides with major anniversaries such as the 150th birth anniversaries of Sardar Patel and Birsa Munda, the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, and the 350th martyrdom year of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Youth Participation And Civic Duty

Modi called on citizens to treat voting as both a right and a duty, urging schools and colleges to celebrate Constitution Day by recognising first-time voters. He said such gestures strengthen civic responsibility among younger generations.

Vision For India At 2047

Looking ahead to the centenary of India’s independence, Modi said the choices made today will shape the country’s future. He encouraged all citizens to renew their commitment to constitutional values and national development as India prepares for 2047 and the Constitution’s centenary in 2049.
