PM to Inaugurate Navi Mumbai Airport October 8

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on October 8, 2025, with the event scheduled at Ulwe in Navi Mumbai at around 3:30 pm.

Aerodrome Licence Secured

The airport recently received its Aerodrome Licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), making it officially ready for flight operations. The project, developed through a public-private partnership between CIDCO and Adani Airports, is expected to ease pressure on Mumbai’s existing airport.

First Phase Operations

In its initial phase, NMIA will handle both domestic and international flights. The main terminal, runway, and other essential infrastructure are ready for use, while advanced systems such as the Automated People Mover (APM) are being finalized. Airline services are expected to be introduced gradually after the inauguration.

Connectivity Push

The launch of the airport is part of a larger connectivity drive in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. On the same day, the Prime Minister will also flag off the final phase of Metro-3 and unveil the Mumbai One app, aimed at integrating metro, bus, and local train services for passengers.
