PM Releases ₹20,500 Crore to Farmers Under PM-Kisan

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, officially released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. The latest installment provides direct benefit transfers to over 9.7 crore farmers across India.

₹2,000 Transferred to Each Eligible Farmer

Under the 20th installment, ₹2,000 has been credited to each eligible farmer’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. This installment is part of the government’s recurring ₹6,000 annual income support to farmers, disbursed in three equal parts.

National Outreach Led by PM Modi

While the installment was formally released from Varanasi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Chandrasekhar led the regional event in Guntur. The minister highlighted that the scheme has now disbursed more than ₹3.7 lakh crore since its launch in 2019.

Farmers Urged to Complete e-KYC

Farmers are required to complete their e-KYC and update Aadhaar and bank details to continue receiving benefits. Officials urged beneficiaries to visit nearby common service centres or the official PM-Kisan portal to check payment status and resolve verification issues.

Focus on Supporting Small Farmers

A significant portion of beneficiaries are small and marginal farmers. The financial aid, especially during the Kharif season, is aimed at reducing farmers’ reliance on informal credit and supporting agricultural input costs.

Awareness Campaigns Across States

Events were held simultaneously in several states to mark the release. In Andhra Pradesh, local farmers gathered to express gratitude and raise concerns about land records and digital access, which the government has promised to address.
