PM Modi Warns Of Prolonged Disruption Amid US Iran War

Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the Rajya Sabha that the ongoing conflict in West Asia could lead to prolonged disruption, warning that the fallout may continue to affect global energy supplies, trade routes and the wider economy for an extended period. He said India is closely monitoring the crisis and working through diplomatic and supply-side measures to reduce the impact at home. The remarks came as the war entered a more prolonged phase, raising concern over oil, gas and shipping flows.

Modi said the conflict could create long-lasting disruption, especially in the energy sector, and described the situation as a serious test for India and the world. The Prime Minister said India is in touch with countries across the region, including Iran, Israel and the United States, while continuing to push for dialogue and diplomacy. He also highlighted the importance of keeping key shipping lanes open and ensuring the safe movement of commercial vessels as tensions remain high.

Government Says India Is Preparing For Impact

Modi said India’s economic fundamentals remain strong and that the government is planning for short-term, medium-term and long-term effects of the crisis. He added that arrangements have been made for petroleum, coal and fertiliser supplies, while efforts continue to secure oil and LPG shipments from multiple sources.
