PM Modi Urges IT Firms To Build AI Products
Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi has urged India’s technology companies to move beyond traditional outsourcing work and start building artificial intelligence (AI) products for global markets, signalling a shift in the country’s digital growth strategy.
India IT Sector AI Products Push
Speaking to industry leaders, Narendra Modi said India’s IT sector has powered global services for decades but the next phase must be driven by ownership of platforms, software tools and intellectual property. He noted that artificial intelligence is changing how solutions are delivered and gives Indian firms the opportunity to move up the value chain. The message was clear: the industry should not remain only a back-office to the world but become a creator of technology used worldwide.
Atmanirbhar Bharat AI Vision
The Prime Minister linked the push to the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, emphasising that India should emerge as a global AI developer. The focus includes building scalable AI systems capable of supporting millions of users and multiple Indian languages. Policymakers believe domestic startups and product companies can help India compete internationally in next-generation digital technologies.
AI Jobs And Skilling Plans
Addressing job concerns, Modi said technological change reshapes work rather than eliminating it. The government plans expanded reskilling and digital training programs so workers can adapt to AI-driven industries. As adoption grows, new technology-focused roles are expected across sectors.
