PM Modi to Attend G20 Summit in South Africa
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Johannesburg from November 21 to 23 to participate in the G20 Leaders’ Summit hosted by South Africa. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the Prime Minister will attend all plenary sessions and present India’s positions on global economic recovery, sustainable development and issues affecting the Global South.
Key Meetings and Engagements
During the summit, PM Modi is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders to strengthen strategic and economic partnerships. He will also join the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) dialogue on the sidelines of the summit, where the three countries are likely to discuss cooperation in trade, technology and multilateral reform. India is set to highlight its priorities in digital innovation, climate action and financial inclusion.
Diplomatic Importance of the Visit
This will be the first G20 summit hosted in Africa to be attended by an Indian Prime Minister, marking an important milestone in India-Africa engagement. Analysts note that the visit reinforces India’s commitment to South-South cooperation and its efforts to expand partnerships across the African continent.
