PM Modi Tells US VP Vance: India Will Hit Harder if Pakistan Escalates

In a recent communication with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed India’s unwavering stance against potential escalations by Pakistan. Modi asserted that any further provocations would be met with a response “far stronger” than previous actions, emphasizing India’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and citizens.

Operation Sindoor: A Decisive Countermeasure

Following the tragic Pahalgam attack on April 22, which resulted in the loss of 26 civilian lives, India initiated Operation Sindoor. This operation targeted multiple terrorist infrastructures across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, aiming to dismantle networks responsible for cross-border terrorism. The precision strikes underscored India’s resolve to combat threats emanating from its neighbor.

Pakistan’s Reaction and International Diplomacy

In the wake of India’s assertive measures, Pakistan attempted retaliatory actions, including drone incursions and ceasefire violations. These moves prompted India to reinforce its defensive posture and communicate its readiness to counter any aggression. The international community, including the United States, engaged in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation, with Vice President Vance reaching out to PM Modi to discuss intelligence findings and potential threats.

India’s Strategic Communication

India’s leadership maintained that while it remains open to dialogue, any discussions must be predicated on the cessation of hostile activities by Pakistan. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar conveyed to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that India prefers direct communication channels, such as between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs), to address bilateral concerns effectively.

Global Support and Regional Stability

India’s decisive actions and clear communication have garnered support from various international actors. Notably, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Adel Al Jubeir, visited New Delhi, expressing solidarity and readiness to assist in maintaining regional stability. Such diplomatic engagements highlight the global community’s recognition of India’s right to defend itself against terrorism.
