PM Modi Starts “GST Bachat Utsav” with Navratri

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation on the first day of Navratri, highlighting the festival’s values of courage, devotion, patience, and determination. He linked the occasion with the rollout of the “Next-Generation GST” reforms, which take effect on 22 September 2025. Modi described the reforms as the beginning of a “GST Bachat Utsav” (Savings Festival).

Who Will Benefit

Modi said the reforms will benefit a wide spectrum of citizens—poor, middle class, neo-middle class, youth, farmers, women, shopkeepers, traders, and entrepreneurs. He stressed that reduced GST rates and simplified tax rules will ease purchases for households, reduce the burden on MSMEs, and make doing business smoother.

Swadeshi and Self-Reliance Emphasised

The Prime Minister also tied the reforms to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He urged people to adopt Swadeshi by preferring Indian-made goods, saying every household should be a symbol of local pride and every shop a showcase of indigenous products. Modi added that the nation’s economic strength, like its freedom movement, will be rooted in Swadeshi values.
