PM Modi Says Parliament Needs ‘Delivery, Not Drama’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament, urged all political parties to focus on productive lawmaking rather than disruptions. Speaking to the media, he said Parliament should prioritise “delivery, not drama,” stressing that citizens expect results, not theatrical exchanges.

Opposition Should Engage Constructively, Says PM

Modi said that the opposition should avoid frustration-driven behaviour following recent electoral setbacks, including the Bihar defeat. He urged parties to set aside political differences and participate meaningfully in debates, adding that constructive engagement is essential for effective governance.

Emphasis on National Interest and Policy Debates

The Prime Minister reiterated that the Winter Session should centre on national issues such as development, governance reforms and economic priorities. He said sloganeering, walkouts and disruptions weaken parliamentary functioning and do not serve the public interest.

Opposition Criticises PM’s Remarks

Several opposition leaders criticised Modi’s statement, accusing the government of dismissing legitimate concerns by labelling them “drama.” They argued that raising issues such as national security, unemployment and social welfare is a core function of parliamentary democracy. Despite the criticism, the government maintains that smooth functioning of the House is essential for passing key bills during the session.
