PM Modi Rebuts AAP’s Allegations of Yamuna Water Poisoning
On January 29, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Delhi’s Kartar Nagar, vehemently refuting allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Haryana government is contaminating the Yamuna River with poison. He emphasized that the same water is consumed by judges, diplomats, and the general populace, including himself, questioning the plausibility of such claims.
PM Modi criticized the AAP for making what he termed “disgusting allegations” against the people of Haryana, suggesting that such statements are born out of desperation due to fear of electoral defeat. He highlighted the interconnectedness of residents in Delhi and Haryana, noting that many families have relatives across both regions, and questioned whether the people of Haryana would poison water that their own kin consume.
The Prime Minister further accused the AAP of failing to fulfill its promises to clean the Yamuna River, pointing out that despite seeking votes on this issue in multiple elections, the party now dismisses the matter, claiming it doesn’t yield electoral benefits. He asserted that such baseless allegations not only insult the people of Haryana but all Indians, emphasizing the cultural significance of providing drinking water as a noble deed in the country.
PM Modi expressed confidence that the citizens of Delhi would respond appropriately to those spreading such falsehoods, suggesting that the AAP’s actions would lead to their political downfall. He also warned against a potential post-election alliance between the AAP and the Congress, referring to it as a ‘double AAP-da’ (double disaster), and urged voters to reject both parties in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5, with results to be declared on February 8.
