PM Modi Launches Major Assam Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched and dedicated multiple infrastructure and welfare projects during his Assam visit, while also releasing the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme to more than 9.32 crore farmers across India. In Guwahati, the projects inaugurated and for which foundation stones were laid were valued at around Rs 19,680 crore, with additional projects scheduled for the second day of the visit.

During a public event in Guwahati, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a wide range of projects linked to energy, transport, railways and waterways in Assam. These included the 150 MW Kopili Hydropower Project, the capacity enhancement of the Numaligarh-Siliguri product pipeline, and Phase 1 of the North East Gas Grid.

He also laid the foundation stone for Numaligarh Refinery’s rail-fed POL terminal at Panchgram. In the railway sector, key electrification works were dedicated to the nation, while the Furkating-Tinsukia rail line doubling project was also launched.

PM-KISAN 22nd Instalment Released

Alongside the infrastructure push, Modi released the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme to over 9.32 crore farmers. The income support scheme remains one of the Centre’s major direct benefit programmes for the agriculture sector.

At the event, the Prime Minister also handed over land pattas symbolically to eligible tea garden workers, linking the Assam visit to both infrastructure expansion and welfare delivery.

Assam Infrastructure And Connectivity Push

The visit also covered projects aimed at improving connectivity and logistics in the Northeast. These included cruise terminals at Bishwanath Ghat and Neamati, a maritime training and research hub at Bogibeel, and a new approach road connecting Pandu Jetty to NH-27.

In Kokrajhar, where the Prime Minister addressed a gathering virtually due to weather conditions, he launched additional road, bridge and railway projects and flagged off three new trains.
