PM Modi Launches Health Projects Worth ₹12,850 Crore on Ayurveda Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of healthcare initiatives valued at ₹12,850 crore during the celebration of Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi.

These projects aim to strengthen India’s healthcare infrastructure and expand access to essential services across the country.

Ayurveda and Modern Medicine Integration

Highlighting the importance of integrating Ayurveda with modern medicine, PM Modi emphasized India’s holistic approach to healthcare. He outlined the five pillars of India’s health policy: preventive care, early detection, affordable treatment, access to doctors in smaller towns, and technological expansion in health services.

Key Health Initiatives Launched

The health projects launched include four centres of excellence under the Ayush Health Scheme, expanded use of drones for medical services, and infrastructure developments in AIIMS across various cities, including New Delhi, Rishikesh, and Bilaspur. New medical and nursing colleges were also inaugurated as part of the government’s efforts to increase medical capacity.

Ayushman Bharat Expansion for Senior Citizens

PM Modi also announced the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to cover individuals above 70 years of age. Citizens will now receive free treatment in hospitals through the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card, with no income restrictions. Additionally, the launch of more than 14,000 PM Jan Aushadhi Kendras offering medicines at an 80% discount was highlighted, significantly reducing healthcare costs for low-income and middle-class families.

The Prime Minister further introduced the Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan to promote Ayurvedic principles for personalized healthcare, aiming to create a global perspective on wellness.
