PM Modi Launches ₹62,000-Cr Youth Initiatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a package of youth-focused schemes worth over ₹62,000 crore, with special attention to Bihar. The initiatives aim to boost education, skill development, and entrepreneurship across the country.

Key Measures Announced

A flagship scheme, PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs), was unveiled with an investment commitment of around ₹60,000 crore. Other measures include reforms to the Bihar Student Credit Card scheme—offering interest-free loans of up to ₹4 lakh—and a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 to five lakh youth under the revamped Mukhyamantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana.

Focus on Bihar

The announcement places a strategic emphasis on poll-bound Bihar, signaling efforts to strengthen youth engagement in the state. Alongside financial aid and education support, new plans include setting up a skill university in Bihar to further vocational training.

Challenges and Outlook

While the proposals are ambitious, their success will depend on timely implementation, monitoring, and coordination between centre and state governments. Experts say delivering on ground capacity—especially in remote and rural areas—will be crucial to translating these schemes into meaningful opportunities for youth.
