PM Modi Launches ₹42,000 Cr Projects in Agriculture

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation for multiple projects in the agriculture and allied sectors worth over ₹42,000 crore.

Major Schemes Unveiled

Two flagship schemes were launched: PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana with an outlay of ₹24,000 crore, and the Mission for Atmanirbharta in Pulses with ₹11,440 crore. The former aims to boost crop diversification, storage, irrigation, and credit in 100 low-productivity districts. The pulses mission seeks to expand pulse cultivation area, strengthen value chains, and reduce import dependency.

Infrastructure & Allied Projects

In addition to these, PM Modi dedicated projects worth around ₹5,450 crore in sectors including dairy, fisheries, animal husbandry and food processing. He also laid foundation stones for further schemes worth about ₹815 crore. Projects include agro-processing clusters, cold chain infrastructure, fish feed plants, integrated aquaparks, and innovation labs.

Focus & Goals

During his address, Modi emphasised self-reliance: “We must reduce imports and increase exports.” He said the success of the new schemes hinges on effective local implementation. He urged district officials and farmers to adapt plans to local soil, climate, and needs.

The PM also interacted with farmers and representatives of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). Over 1,100 projects across India are part of the rollout. Officials said the move reflects the government’s continued push for rural infrastructure, agricultural resilience, and farmer welfare.
