PM Modi Lands On Assam Emergency Landing Highway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed on a highway emergency landing facility in Assam, marking operational readiness of the state’s first such airstrip designed for military and emergency use.

Assam Emergency Landing Facility Inauguration

The facility has been developed on a national highway stretch to allow fighter aircraft and transport planes to land during emergencies or military operations. Authorities said the infrastructure strengthens rapid response capability and improves operational flexibility in the Northeast.

The airstrip is equipped with reinforced pavement, navigation support and safety systems suited for aircraft operations.

Indian Air Force Aerial Demonstration

Following the landing, the Indian Air Force conducted aerial displays to demonstrate the capability of the runway. Military aircraft performed operations to validate usability for both routine drills and contingency scenarios.

Officials indicated such infrastructure enables faster deployment of forces and disaster response logistics when conventional airbases are unavailable.

Strategic Importance For Northeast Connectivity

The project is part of broader efforts to enhance dual use infrastructure in border and remote regions. Apart from defence preparedness, the facility can support relief operations during natural disasters and improve connectivity in emergencies.

Authorities stated similar projects may be expanded to other strategic corridors across the country.
