PM Modi Inaugurates Noida International Airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase I of the Noida International Airport at Jewar on March 28, formally opening a major new aviation gateway for the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh. The project is being positioned as a major infrastructure milestone aimed at improving connectivity, easing congestion at Delhi’s main airport and accelerating economic activity around the Yamuna Expressway region.

PM Modi Inaugurates Noida International Airport

The new airport at Jewar has been launched as Delhi-NCR’s second international airport. Phase I has been developed with an investment of about Rs 11,200 crore and is expected to strengthen passenger and cargo movement in one of north India’s fastest-growing corridors. The inauguration marks the operational start of a project that has been under discussion for years and is now being projected as a long-term aviation and logistics hub.

Jewar Airport To Boost NCR Connectivity

The airport is designed as a multi-modal transport hub with integration planned across road, rail, metro and regional transit systems. It is expected to reduce pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport while improving access for Noida, Greater Noida, western Uttar Pradesh and nearby regions. The first phase includes a passenger terminal, runway and cargo infrastructure, with future expansion planned in multiple phases.

Airport Project Seen As Regional Growth Driver

The project is also expected to drive trade, logistics, investment and employment in the broader region. Official plans include a cargo hub with strong annual handling capacity in the first stage, with room for major expansion in later phases. With further development, the airport is expected to become one of India’s major aviation infrastructure assets.
