PM Modi Hails Op Sindoor, Takes Dig at Lalu
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the inspiration to launch Operation Sindoor, the recent cross-border military action, came from Bihar. Addressing a large rally in Motihari, Modi remarked that the state’s historic sense of courage and national pride shaped his government’s resolve to respond decisively to terrorism. The operation, he said, had sent a strong message to enemies of India.
Without naming Pakistan directly, Modi said that those responsible for the attack in Pahalgam received a “direct and unforgettable response,” and this was possible because of the unity and strength displayed by the people of Bihar and the rest of the country.
₹7,200 Crore Development Push for Bihar
During the event, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth over ₹7,200 crore. These include railway line upgrades, new Amrit Bharat trains, expressways, IT parks, and public infrastructure meant to enhance connectivity and job creation across Bihar.
The Prime Minister said these initiatives would transform Bihar’s economy and bring opportunities to youth, farmers, and small businesses. He praised Bihar’s growing role in the nation’s development journey, calling it a “centre of new aspirations.”
Political Attack on Lalu Yadav
Modi also launched a scathing political attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, blaming his past governments for plunging Bihar into “jungle raj.” He accused previous regimes of corruption, crime, and blocking growth. Modi urged voters to reject those who “destroyed an entire generation” in the state.
The jibe is seen as a signal that the BJP will aggressively focus on national security, development, and past governance failures as key themes ahead of the upcoming state elections.
Bihar at the Centre of BJP’s 2025 Strategy
The rally in Motihari marks a significant moment in the BJP’s campaign ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls later this year. By blending praise for military operations with promises of development, the party is positioning itself as both protector and provider. Operation Sindoor has added to the BJP’s narrative of strong leadership, while the large-scale infrastructure push seeks to counter local grievances.
