The three cheeses presented to Parmelin were Gulmarg, Konark and Yeoor, each representing a different style of premium Indian cheesemaking.

Gulmarg is a French-style Brie made from pasteurised cow’s milk, with a soft texture and earthy flavour. It received a Super Gold award at the 2026 Mundial do Queijo do Brasil.

Konark is inspired by French Tomme-style cheese and features a natural rind with savoury and mildly citrus flavours. It won Gold at the 2023 World Cheese Awards in Norway and Silver in Switzerland in 2025.

Yeoor Cheese Draws Inspiration From Swiss Gruyère

Yeoor is a mountain-style cheese inspired by Swiss Gruyère and aged for around eight to nine months.

It is known for nutty, sweet and herbaceous flavours and features a rind decorated with rose petals and fennel, combining Indian ingredients with Alpine cheesemaking traditions.

The gift was chosen as a tribute to Switzerland’s globally recognised cheese culture while highlighting the growing quality and international recognition of Indian artisanal cheeses.
