
PM Modi Calls for Peace in Manipur
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Imphal on 13 September 2025, marking his first trip to Manipur in two years since the outbreak of ethnic violence in 2023. He described the clashes as “unfortunate” and urged the people to move forward on the path of peace and progress.
Inauguration of Key Projects
During the visit, Modi inaugurated several major projects, including the new Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, an IT Special Economic Zone building, the new Police Headquarters, and Manipur Bhawans in Delhi and Kolkata. He also laid foundation stones for a number of new works.
Financial Announcements
The Prime Minister unveiled projects worth about ₹8,500 crore, of which around ₹1,200 crore were for those inaugurated during his visit to Imphal. The remainder are new development initiatives to be taken up in the coming years.
Appeal for Unity
In his address, Modi appealed to communities in both the hills and the valley to embrace peace and harmony. He said violence in Manipur not only brings sorrow in the present but also harms future generations. Calling Manipur a “city of possibilities,” he said the 21st century belongs to India’s northeast.
