PM Modi Betrayed Andhra People Again: Shivaji

Andhra Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee Chairman, Gidugu Rudra Raju, and senior party leader Shivaji launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press meet in Vijayawada, accusing him of continuously failing the people of Andhra Pradesh. Shivaji, speaking alongside Rudra Raju, highlighted the Prime Minister’s repeated unfulfilled promises and the betrayal felt by people across the state, particularly regarding the issue of Amaravati and the long-pending demand for Special Category Status.

Shivaji did not mince words when he declared, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has disappointed the people of Andhra Pradesh yet again.” He further questioned why the Prime Minister chose to hold public meetings at Bhimavaram and Narsapur but deliberately avoided visiting Amaravati, the state’s capital declared by his own party’s alliance partner back in 2014.

The Congress leaders reminded the public that it was the BJP-TDP alliance that had laid the foundation stone for Amaravati. “When you had the alliance with the TDP, you laid the foundation stone for Amaravati. Now you don’t even want to look at it,” Shivaji noted. The current silence and distancing from Amaravati, they argued, is nothing short of political betrayal.

Gidugu Rudra Raju echoed Shivaji’s sentiments and alleged that the state’s development has come to a standstill because of the Central government’s apathy and the constant flip-flopping on key promises. He emphasized that PM Modi has not only ignored the sentiments of the people of Andhra Pradesh but also continuously dodged questions about the commitment to build the capital and grant special status as promised during the bifurcation of the state.

The Congress also condemned the PM’s recent visits to Andhra Pradesh, labeling them as mere political shows with no real intent to deliver justice or development. They demanded that the Prime Minister answer why Amaravati has been sidelined and what became of the grand promises made to Andhra’s citizens during election campaigns.

The remarks come at a crucial time when Andhra Pradesh is preparing for elections and the debate over capital city status, regional development disparities, and unfulfilled promises is once again dominating the political discourse. The Congress party aims to revive its footing in the state by reigniting these issues and positioning itself as a credible alternative to both the BJP and the YSR Congress Party.
